If you’ve made it to this page, then I’m sure you’re looking for bunk beds with stairs. And there are plenty of options for those out there. (Including on this site – feel free to look around in my bunk beds with stairs store!) But I know how it is to find the perfect bed, and I wanted to go through a few things with you before you decide.
I am currently looking for a bed or my daughter’s room, and I really did think a bunk bed with stairs would be perfect since it’s 2 beds, plus storage all in one. And that is a GREAT option – if you have the space! Keep in mind that these bunk beds are pretty large. Also, I noticed when I was shopping around that the stairs are sometimes a separate piece of furniture, and therefore a separate cost. (Though, I’ve really only seen that happen in the furniture stores, versus the online stores.)
OK, this is pretty obvious, but make sure you have the right color for your room! I know I’m going to sound like a big dope, but I was pretty set on my daughter’s bed being a honey or pine color. But after looking around, I noticed those colors, for her room, are not good! I am such not a white furniture type of person, but white will look fantastic in her room (which is a bright pink). That’s just a friendly reminder to find a style / color that looks good in the room instead of maybe what you’ve had in mind the whole time. (Like me.) 
I have definitely seen the best bunk beds with stairs deals (actually all types of beds) at Amazon.com. If you have The Dump near you, they have good deals too, but not a great selection. Major furniture retailer prices (Like Raymour & Flanigan) are much higher. Then again, the beds are generally nicer looking (not that kids care what their beds look like…) and they also set it up when they deliver it. But is that worth an extra $400, $500? Na, I don’t think so.
Just wanted to give you some tips and observations from someone out there looking for a bed! Good luck!
What’s your reason for wanting a bunk bed with stairs?

If any of you out there are reading this, I would love to know the main reason why you’re interested in purchasing a bunk bed with stairs?
Now, to me there are a few basic choices, as mentioned in previous articles.
1. Safety. This is a big one, of course. We want our little ones to be as safe as possible. And while I’m sure bunk beds with ladders are perfectly fine for most kids (especially after they get used to it!), a bunk bed with stairs just seems easier for kids to climb, especially smaller kids. And since they’re easier to climb, there’s less of a chance of them falling.
2. Storage. When you have multiple kids and not a lot of space, extra storage always comes in handy. Most of the stairway bunk beds have storage right in the steps. And, many of them have the option of adding storage at the bottom on the bunk bed too. So, it’s very possible that a dresser wouldn’t be needed. Which is great because the stairs do make these bunk beds a bit wider. (Make sure to measure your room before you purchase! I know that seems obvious, but it’s something I would probably forget to do. LOL.)
3. They’re just so stinkin’ fun! I have to admit that the allure of a bunk bed with stairs for me is imagining the joy and excitement on my kids’ faces when it’s all set up in their room. I can just imagine them climbing the stairs, laying on the top bunk. I imagine them so excited at night that they just giggle and talk until they finally fall asleep. I can just imagine them having a really good time.

Bunk Bed Stairs – Gotta Love The Storage!

Are you the same as me? When I look at staircase bunk beds, and then I see those bunk bed stairs with the drawers in them, I almost get giddy. (ok, yea, I’m also a big cheeseball. I’m going to be one of those parents who completely embarrasses their kids when they’re older. And I’m going to love doing it. LOL.)
The thing is, I always feel like there’s room for extra storage. I mean, is it me, or do your kids have way too many things? I don’t even know how my kids collect so much stuff.
So, one use for those bunk bed stairs is to use the storage for toys. Or it can be used for their “special” items.
And, if you really want to be economical, then you can completely skip buying a dresser and use the drawers and whatever closet space you have for their clothes.
Oh, keep this in mind. If you still decide that you need a dresser, remember that the bunk bed with stairs is wider than most standard bunk beds. That’s because the stairs have to fit on either side of the bed. A standard bunk bed with a ladder is much less wide because the ladder is usually attached right to the front of the bed.
It’s not a problem though unless your room is too small to fit the bed in there. Make sure to get out your handy dandy tape measure!
Still, if you can fit it, this is a great way to go. I really think that the storage in the bunk bed stairs makes it a completely worthy purchase.
Downside to Bunk Beds With Stairs?

Of course there are plenty of benefits to bunk beds with stairs. To review, some of these great benefits include:
- First and foremost, stairs are safer for little ones to climb up and down versus a ladder.
- Especially in the middle of the night if your child wakes up frequently!
- There’s usually storage built right into the steps.
- The sheet is easier to change on the top bunk. (My favorite)
But before purchasing, you have to be aware of the downsides too. And really there’s just one major one.
A bunk bed with stairs is bigger (and by bigger, I mean wider) than a regular bunk bed with a ladder. So you’ll have to keep that in mind before purchasing. Think about the size of your room and just make sure you have a wall that can accommodate the extra large size of the bed.
This issue can easily be solved with a measuring tape!
Now, the good thing is that you may be able to get away with not purchasing a dresser since the bunk beds with stairs have that extra storage.
So while the actual bed takes up more space, you’ll save space on a dresser.
All in all, I still think if you’re looking into bunk beds, then bunk beds with stairs are a really great choice. (As long as it fits in your room, of course!) I think your kids will love how fun their bunk bed is, and you’ll love how comfortable you’ll feel every time they go up and down.
What’s The Best Thing About Bunk Beds With Stairs?

Geez, that’s a hard question to answer because, honestly, I think there are so many benefits to bunk beds with stairs. Here are some of the benefits from the top of my head:
1. Stairs are easier to go up and down versus a ladder. And that’s for kids AND us adults.
2. Stairs are easier to navigate in general, but what about at night? I think I would feel more comfortable for my child to go down stairs during the night.
3. Bunk beds with stairs have storage right in the steps.
4. And some have storage underneath too. THAT is a major space saver.
5. Because there’s so much space right in the bunk beds, you may not need to get a dresser. And THAT is a major money saver.
6. It’s easier to change the sheets on bunk beds with stairs! Woo hoo!
Selfishly, I think #6 is the best thing about bunk beds with stairs! LOL. But seriously, I think the fact that I would feel my kids are safer going up and down the steps is the best benefit to bunk beds with stairs.
If you’re looking for bunk beds anyway, then I would seriously consider ones with steps. Really, they seem to have the most benefit.
But I think regular bunk beds are great too, and I encourage you to weigh all the options and make the best choice for you and your family. Take into account price, safety and quality. All of those things are very important for a piece of furniture that your child / children are going to use for several years.
Shopping Online For Bunk Beds With Stairs

So you’re searching for bunk beds and you like the idea of bunk beds with stairs for your kids’ room. But maybe you’ve been out and about and noticed that there aren’t very many in the stores.
I know because I have this same problem.
I’ve been to some of the major furniture stores near me, and a couple of things seem to happen:
1. They don’t have bunk beds with stairs, just standard bunk beds
or
2. They have bunk beds with stairs, but not in the style and / or color I’m looking for.
Does that sound familiar? Have you been out to the stores too?
That’s the great thing about shopping online. There are SO many products available, you’re almost guaranteed to find exactly what you’re looking for.
The right style, size and color are right there at your fingertips. And instead of traveling store to store to store in your town, you can go to different stores on the web in MUCH less time.
It’s also convenient that with a click of a button, you can have what you ordered delivered right to your door in only a week or two.
It’s so easy and so convenient.
But yes, there are definitely downsides too.
For instance, when the major furniture stores deliver to your house, they will most likely set up your bed for you. (Not in all cases though. Make sure you ask!) When you shop online, you’ll be setting that bed up yourself! And if you’ve ever tried to put furniture together before, I just have one word for you…UGH!
Also, it’s hard to get an idea of the exact look and quality of a bed when you shop online. When you’re at the store, you can feel the bed, see how high it is and if it’s too big for your room.
So if you do shop online, be sure to take plenty of measurements!
As with everything in life, there are certainly upsides and downsides to shopping for bunk beds with stairs online. But, if you can’t find exactly what you’re looking for in the stores, then shopping online is certainly a great choice.
Let’s be real – bunk beds with stairs are FUN!

You know, I think the real reason I am looking into bunk beds with stairs is because they are so darn fun. Regular bunk beds are already seriously fun. I mean, who doesn’t want to sleep on that top bunk? It’s so thrilling to be sleeping so high…so far above everyone else in the house.
What kid doesn’t love to stand up far enough to touch the ceiling? They feel so tall, so independent. (OK, maybe that was just me climbing to the top of my brothers’ bunk when I was young and small.)
Now, you take out the shaky ladder component, and add stairs to the mix? Well, that’s just a whole new level of fun in my opinion. I’m guessing that most kids probably enjoy the ladder once they get used to it. Climbing a ladder is quite thrilling if you think about it. But I know, as a parent, I would constantly be worried that my kids are going to fall off that thing until they really got good at climbing it. But having stairs instead of a ladder is probably just as fun – if not more fun – for the kids and much less worrisome for us.
The kids will love climbing those steps to get to the top bunk. (Make sure to tell them to go slow and be safe!) And opening all of the drawers inside of each step.
Here’s a fun idea if you have the room…let your child (or children) pick a special drawer where they get to keep their special “secret” items.
Anyway, the more I look into it, the more I think bunk beds with stairs is a really good choice for me. I’m still considering all the alternatives because price and style are also important factors.

What’s so great about bunk beds with stairs?

What’s the big deal about bunk beds with stairs versus bunk beds with a ladder? Why are stairs so much better? Well, I don’t know if they’re better yet, but here are three reasons why they may be:
#1. Ladders are not always the easiest to get up and down. Now, my son is almost 5 and he can climb up and down trees all day, so a ladder should be no problem. My daughter, however, is only almost 3 and I have a feeling she may have a little more of an issue. As a safety issue, the bunk beds with stairs wins out in my opinion.
#2. And what about us? Think about when you have to change that top sheet. What would be easier? Standing on a ladder to do it, or on nice, sturdy stairs?
#3. A lot of the bunk beds with stairs have storage right in the steps! And who can’t use a little extra storage? That’s definitely a plus in my book.
Well, from my research so far, these are some of the reasons why bunk beds with stairs may just win out over other bunk beds. But, I’ll let you know what else I can find!
